COMPONENTS
Batteries for Photovoltaic systems are in general composed by the following:
Battery: Is a group of electrochemical cells connected together.
Battery Cell: Is the individual unit of a battery that stores electrical energy.
Plate: Is an electrode made of an active material which amount is related to the amount of energy that could be storage. There are types of plates, one negative and the other positive.
Grid: Is the frame that supports the active material and conducts electricity.
Electrolyte: is the substance that acts as the medium allowing the transfer of ions between battery cell plates. It can be in liquid or gelled form.
